The pandemic that we call Coronavirus has taken everyone by storm. We did crave the ‘work from home’ life but not being able to leave home for entertainment as well is painful. Personally, the only thing that is capable of entertaining me these days is my optimum internet package. Binge-watching shows is my new hobby. And to search online on all the precautionary measures!

Is There Any Cure for Coronavirus?

People around the globe are taking precautionary measures to protect themselves from the virus. Because there is no vaccine for the virus as yet. Neither is there any combination of medicine that is believed to cure the numbers of person suffering from Coronavirus. You can these increasing numbers here.

However, doctors are warning people to avoid taking certain medicines that can worsen the disease. Among the many names, the most prominent one is Brufen. Other than that there are many precautions that experts around the world are suggesting individuals take.

Having said that, let’s look at some of the symptoms of the virus.

Symptoms of Coronavirus

If you have these symptoms, there are chances that you have Coronavirus:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Dry cough that gets severe over time
  • Low-grade fever that gradually increases

In extreme cases, individuals may also experience the following:

  • Confusion
  • Drowsiness
  • Trouble breathing
  • Blue face or lips
  • Persistent pressure on the chest

Prevention through Precaution

Some of the many ways through which you can protect yourself against the virus include:

Cleaning Your Hands Often

Washing your hands with soap and water is better than cleaning them with sanitizers. So, as long as you are at home, in your office or anywhere where you have access to soap and water, prefer washing your hands. There are special instructions on how long to wash the hands for. The recommended time for each wash is 20 seconds. Moreover, it is suggested that you should wash your hands after every half hour.

In case, you do not have access to soap and water, use sanitizer. But not just any sanitizer. Look for the ingredients and purchase the one that has at least 60% alcohol content.

Experts also warn individuals to not to touch their mouth, nose or eyes. As it can prove to be harmful. Therefore, try to keep your hands off your face.

Avoid Close Contact

Stand at a distance of at least 6 feet from each other. People who are sick are in more danger. The worst thing about Coronavirus is that you may be a carrier and might not know about it until 14 days. Therefore, everyone should maintain a distance from each other these days. You never know who is a carrier. It could be you as well.

During this time, the elder people of the society should be taken care of the most. As people above 50 are at a greater risk of suffering than the ones below. Children should keep a distance from their parents and other elderly family members. It is time for all of us to act responsibly.

Covering Coughs and Sneezes

Play your part in protecting the disease from spreading. Be carefull and Cover your sneezes and coughs. If you have the urge of coughing or sneezing, do so in your elbow. Or, place a tissue on your mouth and nose when you do so. Throw away your used tissue if you adopt the second method. As soon as you are done, it is mandatory upon you to wash your hands or rub sanitizer on them.

Wearing a Facemask

Do not just wear a mask if you are sick, wear it at all times when you are outside your home. Because if you are not suffering from the disease, someone you meet might be. Therefore, DO NOT leave your house without wearing a mask. Keep changing your mask regularly as well.

Cleaning and Disinfecting

Cleaning the surfaces of your work stations, or those in your house are as essential as cleaning your self. Disinfecting the house, your mobile phones, and other surfaces is also essential. Cleaning alone won’t suffice. Some of the surfaces that you come into contact with daily include doorknobs, handles, faucets, tables, countertops, sinks, keyboards, desks, light switches, and phones.

For disinfecting these surfaces, the recommended method is to dilute 5 Tablespoons of bleach in a gallon of water. Soak a cloth in it and rub it on all the surfaces you come in contact with daily. But before you use bleach, ensure that the one you are using has 70% alcohol. You can also disinfect your mobile phones with alcohol swabs.

Staying Home

Do not leave your house until it is extremely essential. With many countries observing the lockdown policy these days, it is better to abide by the law.

Where countries are taking strict actions to protect their people, several of the companies are also playing a crucial part to facilitate people these days. For example, many telecommunication companies have signed the ‘keep Americans connected’ pledge. Cable companies in my area have done the same. The terms of the pledge make it easy for Americans to have access to the Internet for the next two months.

Let’s hope and pray that we all defeat the disease soon.
